Clubs & societies, in association with the Enterprise & Innovation Society presents:

Innovent

  “Got an amazing idea for an innovative event for your club or society, but just need the funding to make it a reality? Then Innovent is the competition for you.”

The EI Society, in association with Clubs and Societies, has decided to run a competition to distribute €2,000 in funding.

All you need to have is an idea, a concept, an initiative, a project or proposal that you can pitch to us along with realistic costings of what you propose. Up for it? Then keep on reading…

It has been agreed that pitches that will be looked upon favorably will be those that:

  • Contribute to making W.I.T. a creative and innovative campus;
  • Make your society more accessible to potential members;
  • Involve developmental work that enables your society to better fulfill its aims;
  • Involves collaboration between two or more societies;
  • Initiatives that better ensure the continuity of your society from year to year.

No activity or project is ruled in or out. Clubs and society can ask for any amount up to a maximum of €2,000. A number of events may receive funding or all the money may go to one excellent initiative.

It is worth highlighting that we are not looking to fund ongoing running costs or what was previously ‘revenue’ grants and the rule does still apply that we do not allocate funding for social events. Instead we are looking to support new, innovative and developmental initiatives, so start thinking.

The Pitch

Any club or society interested in pitching for the prize fund must do so through www.eisociety.ie. The pitch can be a combination of video, pictures and text. Entrants must state the name of their society, the amount of money they are looking for (up to a maximum of €2,000) and clearly outline their idea for the event.

Other information….

Societies will be measured on the following vectors:

• Presentation of blog post: clarity and quality of proposal, use of pics/vids etc
• Selling skills: how well your society sells your proposal, show benefit to society/WIT
 Content: what does your society propose to do with the money

The key elements that we will look for in your presentation will be clarity of thought, creativity, and achievability (ie can the idea actually be done with the available budget)

It is important to note the judge’s decision is final and will be based on the quality and content of the club/soc presentation.

If your society is interested or you have any further questions, please email witenterprise@gmail.com  or go to www.eisociety.ie

Closing Date 29 October

Think BIG, think creatively and good luck to all!

Life of a graduate entrepreneur

lplatesThe following extract is from Craig Healy, a local entrepreneur from Wexford. Craig recently left collage and decided to start his own business. Read his story so far….

I have always been a bit of an entrepreneur and have always had my hand in a few side projects even while at college. When I completed an honors degree in legal studies with business, at Waterford Institute of Technology, I found myself in a position where there were no jobs available in any line of work that suited me. This is the situation which many graduates now find themselves facing.

Graduating into the recession is difficult, however, I decided to take a proactive approach. Although a difficult time to start a business, being my own boss was the only way to go. So, here I am now after starting my own Driving School “Craig Healy School of Motoring”, in my home town of Wexford.
